Friends of Silver Creek reached out to Parks, Forestry & Recreation and Parks Development & Capital Projects Section staff for updates on the Silver Creek Park Improvement Project.

The timeline of the project has been delayed since the start of the Park Improvement Project process.

As of October 2022 Capital Projects Section Staff have confirmed that construction will begin October 17, 2022.

The following update is as per City of Toronto, Capital Projects Section Staff:

  • Site 1 which includes the area around the existing playground and path to the parking lot and Site 2 which includes the southeast portion of the park off of Waterford Drive will be closed for construction from October to December 2022.

  • Due to supply chain challenges, the new park swing will be installed in spring 2023, after the main construction period.

  • During the three-week swing installation period, the west side of the playground (where the swing will be installed) and the path to the parking lot will be closed to the public.

August 2021

Friends of Silver Creek have received an invite by Parks, Forestry & Recreation, Parks Development & Capital Projects Section staff to participate in a preliminary stakeholder virtual meetings to discuss the Silver Creek Park Improvement Project.

City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation staff, Councillor Holyday, their design consultant, and other community stakeholders will be in attendance.

It is our hope that previous community consultation and input will be included in current discussions and that the entire community will have further opportunity to be provided with information and an opportunity for consultation to ensure all community voices will be respected and heard.

In advance of this meeting FofSC have asked for confirmation of details including if a timeline has been determined and if the decision making and consultation process for this project has been confirmed.
